Readily Available Recycling Depositories
One of the new regulations that would help to solve global-warming on a local level would be the institution of readily available recycling bins and trash cans (Like the ones pictured to the left) located at all parks and recreational areas. Massachusetts' Supervisor of Recreation and Maintenance Jeff Thomas estimated, "some 50 percent of the waste stream generated between [Parks and recreation areas] is recyclable material. You can get more, by educating the public that the bins are available for their recyclables, saving space in landfills and recovering material for reuse(Arata, 2008). this proves that if Manatee County were to instate the use of these cans, the production of litter in these areas will decrease drastically, therefore reducing the areas carbon footprint and helping to eliminate global warming.
